Paul has been in the Real Estate and Livestock business in the Prague area since 1956 beginning with his first office five and one-half miles west of Prague on Highway 62.
In 1968, he returned to Prague and the Real Estate field when he and Doyal Greer opened the Prague Realty. Graduating from the Fort Smith School of Auctioneering in 1969 lead to Paul purchasing Mr. Greer’s interest and changing the name to Paul D. Spitler Real Estate & Auction Service in 1970.
Spitler purchased the Prague Stockyards in 1975 and formed Spitler Auction, Inc.
Tracy Sullivan joined Paul as an auctioneer in 1982 and eventually became a partner when the name was changed to Spitler-Sullivan Auction and Realty in 1993.
During this time, the Spitler-Sullivan name became well known throughout the state as they specialized in lumberyard liquidations as well as other liquidations, livestock, antiques and estates. As time went by, they started selling most of their real estate transactions by way of auction.
Several other auctioneers have worked with Paul and Tracy over the years, one of which was Tom Johnson. Tracy left the company to pursue other business ventures and Tom stepped in and became a partner with Paul. On January 1, 2016, the name was officially changed to Spitler-Johnson Auction & Realty.
Today, the company conducts auctions throughout the state of Oklahoma. While most of their real estate business is conducted by auction, they also conduct antique, estate, livestock and liquidation sales.
