Paul Spitler grew up in the Shawnee/Meeker areas where he got his start in the Cattle and Livestock business while active in the FFA. Paul has been in the Real Estate and Livestock business in the Prague area since 1956 beginning with his first office five and one-half miles west of Prague on Highway 62.
1964 took him to Wilcox, Arizona where he was President and General Manager of Southwest Pipeline Company of Wilcox for three years. In 1968, he returned to Prague and the Real Estate field when he and Doyal Greer opened the Prague Realty. Graduating from the Fort Smith School of Auctioneering in 1969 lead to Paul purchasing Mr. Greer’s interest and changing the name to Paul D. Spitler Real Estate & Auction Service in 1970. His father W.L. Spitler joined him in the company as a Real Estate Broker in 1969.
Paul is a highly-respected business man and civic leader being a long-time member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the BancFirst Board of Directors and on the Hospital Board of Directors for 15 years. Paul served as Lion's Club President in 1970, Chamber President in 1975 and was the 1979 Kolache Festival President. He is also a past President of the Oklahoma State Auctioneers Association. Paul's love for his community shows in his philanthropic donations to various community causes and groups. He is also the premier sponsor of the Miss Lincoln County Scholarship Organization promoting community service and leadership where he also serves on their Board of Directors.
In 1999, Paul was inducted into the Oklahoma State Auctioneer’s Association Hall of Fame which honors members who have given many years of dedicated service to the auctioneering profession. In 2001, the Prague Chamber of Commerce honored Paul with the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award for all his civic work in the community.
His wife Emily joined him in the Real Estate business in 1978 as a sales associate and then obtained her Broker’s License one year later. Continuing in the family tradition, their daughter Stacey is now employed in the Apartment/Property Management business and obtained her Oklahoma State Real Estate Sales Associate License in 2018 and her Brokers License in 2022. Stacey is in charge of the website and social media content for the company.
Still going strong at 89 years of age, Mr. Spitler continues to mentor and inspire aspiring future auctioneers and civic leaders.
